Verizon has a proposal to install a wireless tower adjacent to our neighborhood.  This is on the agenda for the Chesterfield County Planning Commission meeting agenda at the upcoming October 20, 2020 Planning Commission meeting.  Verizon Wireless is proposing a wireless facility consisting of 150’ monopole with flush-mounted antennas and associated ground equipment.  The property is wooded between the compound and our neighborhood, but there also will be a 100’ tree radius (no-cut zone) around the leased compound, which is 100’ x 100’.

Pending any changes with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission meeting will be held in the Public Meeting Room with restricted capacity (10001 Iron Bridge Road). The case will be on the discussion agenda as citizens have expressed concerns/opposition to the request.

Alternatively, given COVID-19, if you or anyone else you know do not wish to speak in person/do not feel comfortable attending in person, I would advise submitting comments outlining your concerns with this case on our online portal. (https://www.chesterfield.gov/cpccomments).  Comments submitted are read and discussed by the Commission and staff.

Historically, the county has rendered support for communications towers in the event they are unable to co-locate on to other towers, etc. Unless something with the site plan, application, or the acceptance of conditions change, etc., staff is anticipating recommending approval of the case. We usually refer to the County’s Telecommunications Tower Siting Policy (which can be found at https://www.chesterfield.gov/DocumentCenter/View/2015/Tower-Siting-Policy-PDF ).
